The North Coast Leadership Academy is designed as a two year program that offers training in specific areas of ministry, along with courses in leadership, life skills, and the Bible. The Leadership Academy focuses on teaching leadership skills through the participation in the ministry at North Coast Church, while providing skills to equip the student for life.
This program is primarily open to dedicated Christian adults between the ages of 18 and 25 years old, who desire to be a fully committed follower of Christ.
This program offers the flexibility for an individual to train in a specific area of ministry interest, participate in an internship, learn essential, practical and applicable life skills, develop leadership skills, and be exposed to basic Bible classes. A student can attend college, have an outside job, meet family obligations, and/or pursue a career in ministry while attending the North Coast Leadership Academy.
Students will attend Bible, life skills, and leadership classes once a week for two (2) hours; participate in a ministry practicum; work in ministry; attend the Jordan; and attend a Life Group. In addition, students will meet with a Life Coach, a person who is specifically assigned to provide focus, guidance, input, and feedback, every 4 to 6 weeks (a minimum of 6 times a year).
The Leadership Academy will provide training specifically in Worship, Media Production, Video Team, Nonprofit Management, Community Outreach, Information Technology, Graphics, Youth and Children’s Ministry.
Students will be required to attend classes for two hours once a week; participate in ministry practicum; Serve in ministry each week; attend the Jordan; enroll in a Life Group; and attend church regularly. The program commitment is approximately 10 to 20 hours a week. In addition, students will be encouraged to meet with their Life Coach 6 times a year if they decide to have one.
The only program prerequisites are a high school diploma and/or GED, and a desire to be a fully committed follower of Christ.
The cost of the Leadership Academy is $1200/year. This includes text books and materials, required activities, and events. Additional costs could also include an optional trip to Israel every year.
This is designed to be a two year program.
You will be allowed to attend one year, if that is what best suits your needs. Although this program would be extremely worthwhile if you choose to attend only one year, it would, however, be most beneficial to attend the full two years.
Classes at the North Coast Leadership Academy are not accredited; however, students are encouraged to enroll in a program at an accredited college or university while attending the Leadership Academy.
Each calendar year, you will have three ten-week sessions; your “core” NCLA class will meet every Thursday afternoon from 3:00 – 5:00 pm. Your ministry practicum class will be scheduled in addition to that; the day and time depends on your area of specialization.
You can start the online application process here.
March 17, 2024 for the Fall Session of the 2025-2026 school year.
Student success will be measured by participation in all of the program components; successful completion of ministry practicum; attendance in the life skills, Bible, and leadership classes; Life Coach meetings, participation in the Jordan, a Life Group, and regular church attendance; and fulfillment of ministry obligations.
At the completion of this program, it is our intention that the Leadership Academy students will be prepared to lead in ministry or in the marketplace. It is our desire that students will have a clear direction as to what their calling is, and how they want to serve God, both in and outside of the church. Through the experiences in ministry, participation in life skills and leadership classes, and the exposure to basic Bible classes, students will have a solid foundation to determine “next steps” in their Christian careers, will be ready to go to a four year university, and ready to be employed in a church ministry or in the marketplace.
You will be equipped and empowered to become a Christian leader wherever God leads you.
